Match Preview.

This Saturday sees the Linnets make a trip to Greater Manchester as they take on Salford City in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

Since Burscough returned to the First Division, the "Ammies" have never beaten the Linnets in a league fixture. The Greens triumphed earlier in the season at Victoria Park when they beat City 2-0 thanks to goals from Niall Cummins and Liam Caddick.

Derek Goulding will no doubt be hoping for good news regarding his defensive options with only one recognized centre half fit in the last couple of weeks. Captain Paul Williams has been back on the bench in recent games however but Liam Dodd is expected to be out long term with a knee injury.

New signing Danny Smith, who signed yesterday from Clitheroe will be available for selection for Saturday's game.

Linnets' supporters will be encouraged to see Liam Caddick making good progress in his recovery which kept him out over the Christmas period. The Greens top scorer has been nursing an ankle injury.

Salford have been in similar form to Burscough in recent weeks but they currently sit 10th in the league and did win last Saturday against Padiham. City's line up has changed considerably since the last meeting back in September and Linnets boss Goulding will know they are not to be underestimated.
