Richmond versus The Cumbrians

This Saturday see’s Richmond hit the long road to the Lake District in their first away game of the season in Cumbria, the second will follow very quickly!
The 1st team are away to Dalton United on Saturday, a team they have had some cracking games against in the last 2 seasons. Indeed on the last 2 visits to Beckside Road, the yellows have scored 8 goals and won both games. Last season saw the Richmond travel on the last game of the season in May and came away with a 1.4 victory, goals from Lee Morton, Martin Cliffe, Peter Armitage & skipper Lee McNabb on that day.
Dalton have had an indifferent start to the season having lost their manager and currently languish in 2nd bottom place in the West Lancs 1st Division, however travelling to Cumbria provides its own tests of availability and the Barrow teams are always more comfortable when at home.
Richmond go into the game with top goalscorer Michael Galliers and centre half Michael Edwards both on holiday in Marbella, we are sure the Barrow sunshine will more than match the Spanish version?!?! Richmond call again on young striker Liam Murphy and will be hoping Lee Morton and Ash Disley shake off injuries in order to travel. Another player will be drafted from the reserves for the trip.
Last time out Richmond beat Ulverston 1.0 at the park with a hard fought yet uninspiring victory, Clanny, Jocky & Vin will be looking for more this week, were-as Dalton suffered a 3.0 reverse to Tempest United at Beckside Road. Another 4 goals for the yellows would be most welcomed this year.

The reserves are at home this weekend to Cumbrians also with Milnthorpe Corinthians making the journey south to the Park.
This is only the reserves 2nd game of the season and they will be hoping to carry on where they left off against Turton having annihilated them 11.1 a fortnight ago.
Les Abbott is away on his stag do but it is hoped the rest of the squad are available which will cause assistant manager Jonesy headaches as manager Anthony Dever relaxes in the Menorca sun, returning in time for kick off on Saturday!
Last year’s game at the park was played on 18th August 2013 and the yellows took all 3 points with a 3.0 victory, goals coming from Tom Jay 2 & club legend Philip Simpson.
As ever if you are able to get along to Richmond Park this weekend to support your local team, kick off is 3pm.
