1st's look to avoid Home/Away defeat whilst Resis travel to Blackburn with glory all to play for!

This coming weekend sees Richmond 1st team entertain Askam United from Cumbria at Richmond Park.
The Yellows go into the game having thought this would be the last game of the season and it could still be after the postponement of the Ambleside game last weekend and the less than optimistic view from Ambleside about whether they shall or shall not travel for the game now rescheduled for Tuesday 28th April with a 6.45 KO.
Richmond go into the game knowing that the chances of a second place finish are now dead due to the teams in 2nd Turton & 3rd Poulton having to play each other and even a draw in that game would mean their superior goal differences would place them ahead of Richmond even should we win our remaining 2 games.
This game is fast on the back of the reverse fixture at Askam on the 14th March were a buoyant Richmond side were beaten by 2 goals to 1 after a below par performance and 2 wonder strikes from Askam that flew in from 30 yards each. A very harsh lesson on the day for the lads.
The first team will be looking to make amends for that result and try to finish off the season in as high as possible league position.
The current points total is 53 a figure the first team have finished on in each of the 3 previous years in the West Lancs League which is an amazing and bizarre statistic. Let’s hope for 2 more wins and a top 4 minimum finish.
The yellows go into the game low on numbers as McNabb is still injured, Kenyon is away, Andrews is at Cricket and Berrie is also away.
The last meeting of the 2 sides at Richmond Park came on 27.08.11 when a fine game ended 2.2, scorers on the day were Anthony Murt & Nathan Martland.

The resis travel to Mill Hill Reserves in Blackburn on the back of 2 superb wins last week at Turton on Saturday 0.6 and Croston on Monday 0.2 that have propelled them from 5th position to 2nd and an excellent chance of automatic promotion if not potential to go on and win the league. There are however 3 very tough games left, 2 away and the current leaders (Hesketh Bank) at home.
Mill Hill are a formidable side on their own ground and a tough game is expected, indeed on 21.03 the reverse fixture was played at The Park and the East Lancashire side came away from the park with a 1.1 draw. This should act as a wake-up call for the reserves lads to take each game as it comes and not to get ahead of themselves on this run down to what we all hope will be at the very least a top 2 finish.
If last season’s game is anything to go by a cracker could be expected as both sides played out a 4.4 draw on the 23.11.2013, goalscorers that day were Josh Dixon, Martin Cliffe and Peter Armitage 2.

For the 1st team game at Richmond Park, Joyce will be on site at the club café lounge selling a range of tasty drinks, snacks, chocolates and crisps for your delight.
If you can get along to support the lads it would be very much appreciated.
