Richmond become first team this season to win at Kendal
After gaining maximum 6 points with a 3.1. over Walney Island and an emphatic 11.1.scoreline over Ulverston over the Easter weekend
Richmond travelled to Kendal County to play a side who are chasing the same promotion spot as themselves.
Richmond have 3 games left to play whereas Kendal have 5,the points difference before today's game was 5 so it was a must win for Richmond
to keep them in the promotion stakes.
Richmond kicked off, the early part of the game was entrenched in midfield with the two sides sizing each other up.
First shot on goal came from County, well struck shot which was very well saved by Richmond keeper Robinson, Murt the Richmond striker had
a shot saved a few minutes later by the home keeper.
Richmond went close to opening the scoring on the half hour mark midfielder McNabb floated an excellent corner kick insde the 6 yard box, the ball dropped to Murt who in turn laid on a pass to his partner Cliffe, who was inches away from a final touch.
First half was scappy, the home side did have a good header by striker Baker just flash over the bar.
Shout for a penalty from the home side leading into halftime wasn't given, the linesman confirming to referee Mr.Tuffy the ball was out of the area.
The opening Richmond goal came on 55 minute's, a swift move down the left flank found centre forward Cliffe in space with time to square an
excellent pass to the oncoming midfielder Nathan Martland who whipped the ball round the County keeper and into the bottom corner of the net.
Martland was involved in the next Richmond goal when he fired a free kick into the County defensive wall from just outside the box,the ball
deflected to Captain McNabb who slotted the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle,on 70 minute's.
The visitors had there tails up now,Cliffe went close again forcing a great save out of the home side's keeper, with the Robinson turning the ball over bar making a wonderful save in turn for Richmond.
The Richmond bench made a substitution Simpson for Cliffe, with Richmond looking in control of the game Murt fired in an absolute vicious shot, just on the edge of the box which the home side's keeper did very well to keep out of his net.
The match was signed, sealed and delivered when Martland and man of the match made it 3.0.latching onto a long ball out of defence by centre back Ash Disley, the young midfielder's pace placing him in a position to round the oncoming keeper and walk the ball into an empty net.
Richmond have two games left, the maximum points tally is 53, Kendal however can reach 54 if they win all there games in hand making it an interesting last few weeks of the season.
Manager Chris Clandon could not hide his delight with the result, we have come to a fabulous place to play football today, and been the first team to take all 3 points off Kendal on their own ground. They are a good footballing team but we were the better side, especially second half and we thoroughly deserved our victory.
Its a shame that probably 1 of us 2 teams wont go up as i think both would do Division 1 justice however we must now see the season through and gain maximum points and just hope they slip up somewhere.
