This top of the table clash was won by the stronger side in the second half,but Richmond can take heart that Ambleside will beat teams from higher leagues with the player's they can draw on.
Richmond looked equal to Ambleside in the first half, battling well in midfield but finding difficulty breaking down the home defence to get a shot off.

The pitch was extremely wet and heavy and could easily have been called off.
Richmond kicked off and it wasn't long before both sides where finding the heavy going very testing Ambleside went close on couple of occasion's with forward's McGeecham and Rushton looking menacing.
Richmond showing a bit of flair on occasion with Chris Jones hitting a diagonal ball to left midfielder Lee Morton, the youngster did his best to stretch to reach the ball but couldn't find the target and headed
over.
It wasn't till the 35 minute that Richmond worried the home side's defence when Chris Jones hit a great shot against the corner of the bar and upright from 25 yard's out,no forward followed in and the ball was cleared.
Richmond at this stage where having a little more of the play,but Ambleside still looked dangerous leading into half time.
Richmond came out for the second half, but the heavy pitch and lack of games began to tell and the home side began gain the upper hand.
Ambleside scored twice with goal's from dangermen McGeechan and Rushton who took advantage of tired play by Richmond,Robinson in the visitor's goal having no chance with their efforts.
The visitor's keeper had an excellent match but Richmond will learn from this encounter and get better from it.
Manager Clandon bemoaned the state of the Ambleside pitch, the weather in the week must have been bad as the pitch was a disgrace and if this game was in December or January i doubt very much that the game would have taken place, however it was the same for both teams.
At half time i was more than pleased with the way in which we had gone about trying to get a result, however Ambleside upped their game second half and we simply didnt get going at all, we were a different side which is why i am disappointed. Ambleside were good value for their win in the end as second half they were simply better than us.
