Born 23 October 1979 in Buenos Aires, Argentina Mariano was a professional rugby union player for Bristol in the Aviva Premiership and IPA Championship. Mariano Sambucetti's position of choice was at lock. He has also represented Argentina and made his debut against Uruguay on 19 May 2001. Making 13 appearances for his country his best game was a draw against British and Irish Lions in 2005 at The Millennium Stadium. He played 199 games for Bristol - being one of the most capped players for the club in its professional history.

Mariano is a charismatic and entertaining speaker and will share with us his journey from southern to northern hemisphere rugby transitioning from the amateur to professional era in both regions. He was also a sky sports pundit for the rugby championship alongside Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael Lynagh and Thinas Delport.

Active also off the field Mariano is also a successful coach. He coached Brazil for over a year resulting in a win against the USA and started a development program using rugby as an integration and development platform that has now taken them to become South American Champions for the first time. Now living in Holland working as coach for the Dutch National side as well as working in the commercial world, Mariano also coaches and supports Burton RFC on his visits to the UK, training our Senior and Colts teams. His hands on, no nonsense approach greatly helped our First XV team in their success as a squad last season and his continued mentoring of our coaching team supported them focus on success.
This is a unique opportunity to engage with a fantastic southern hemisphere professional and Mariano will be available after the dinner for photographs and to meet guests directly.
