Barton 5-20 Burton
The start of the match saw the hosts going for it with an all out attack on Burton, the young Crofters put on the defensive display of the season though, and after absorbing some prolonged pressure were eventually allowed to mount an attack of their own. The first Burton attack was very tentative though and, although they kept hold of the ball, they didn't pose much of a threat to the Barton line, until Benjamin Blackham cleared the back of a ruck and threw a pass to Ben Mumford who danced through the Barton defence. This spurred the lads on and the back line started hounding their opposing attack and forcing the error, Mumford then pounced on loose ball to dart through for his second score. The half time change saw some big guns brought on and this gave the forwards a bit more get up and go. Burton made their dominance count when Eddy Brown stormed through the heart of the defence to score. An unusual lapse in concentration saw Barton grab a score back before Mumford finished the scoring off.
Barton 15-25 Burton
Burton came out for the second encounter thinking it would be easy, they were soon proved wrong as their hosts seemed to up their game, some weak tackling and below par rucking saw Burton struggle through to half time trailing 15-0. Some tactical changes and a short break to refocus seemed to work though as the tackling became strong again, and the backs were again hounding their opponents giving them no time or room and a return to some good rucking rugby saw Burton wrestle control of the match. Some good passing and running rugby saw Burton completely turn the game on its head, with scores from Hector Abel, Ben Mumford, Olly Gibbs and a double from Eddy (Ashton) Brown, to run out winners.
Barton 5-30 Burton
Burton came out for the final encounter ready to show what they can do. Again the tackling, especially that of the smiling James Summers, was what eventually won the game. The defensive line of Burton looked impressive and, with Barton finding it harder and harder to find a way through, it wasn't long before Burton forced their way through. The first try saw Olly Gibbs rewarded for another good all round display, the second was after Burton wrapped their opponents up near the try line and the ensuing maul was driven to the line before Cameron Maughan ripped the ball out to score, an impressive bit of support play saw Charlie Spendlove pop up at the right place to score. Further trys by Ben Mumford, Eddy Brown and a well deserved try for Marcus Tolley completed the rout.

A lovely day for rugby saw Burton put on a show for the spectators. Although people will remember the try scorers, the hard tackling must also be remembered today. James Summers deserves a special mention for some of the tackles he put in, they weren't particularly hard, but they were all a perfect technique and his opponents ended up on the floor.

try scorers: Ben Mumford(5), Eddy Brown(4), Hector Abel, Olly Gibbs(2), Cameron Maughan, Charlie Spendlove, Marcus Tolley.
