We are pleased to announce the date for our Sportsmans Dinner 2015. The pleased to tell you that the event will again be hosted at Burton Albion on 15th October 2015 arriving 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.

We are expecting the event to be very popular this year as our speaker for the event is John Bentley.

Rugby legend John Bentley (known as Bentos) was born in Yorkshire in 1966. He originally trained as a policeman, but eventually decided to become a professional rugby player. A fast and aggressive winger, he played both rugby league and rugby union. He won a total of four caps for England between the years of 1988 and 1997 - a nine year gap separating his earlier appearances from the later ones! He made his final appearance (for England) at Twickenham in 1997 against South Africa. In the intervening years he had a successful career in rugby league. He switched back to union in 1996 when the sport became professional.

John Bentley played a central role in the success of the 1997 Lions Tour to South Africa. His tireless sense of humour, infectious enthusiasm and commitment to the cause endeared him to team-mates and travelling supporters alike, as well as the millions who watched his off-field antics and on-field heroics on the fly on the wall documentary Living with the Lions.

For those who haven’t seen him speak at an event before he is honestly one of the most entertaining speakers, so much so he has requested that we cancel a comedian because he will only show him up by doing a better job! Therefore he is our host for the entire evening which should be great fun. There will be lots of audience participation required! Obviously we will be well into the world cup by then so I am sure there will also be a great amount of topical reference to what is happening during the tournament.

Tickets are £45 and tables of up to 10 can be reserved.
