There are a number of vacancies for volunteers at Peel Croft, if you can help with these or anything else, please let us know.

Here is a chance to help your club either in introducing youngsters to the club or in helping the 1st XV step-up into the National Leagues.

Little Ruggers Coordinator

Little Ruggers is a parent and child session for 2-5 year olds, providing youngsters their first chance for chance to participate in a club activity. Blocks of weekly sessions are set up when the weather is favourable.

Volunteers are sought to take on the delivery of sessions and the associated administration.

The administration involves confirming dates /times, maintaining a database of those attending, communicating with those attending and promoting the sessions, making the call if the weather is bad and collecting the small fees charged. Advice from those involved in the past will be available.

The commitment is estimated at:

  • Administration – 1 to 2 hours per week
  • Session planning & delivery – 2 hours per week (including set-up & tidying of equipment)

There would be opportunity for a long term involvement, allowing groups of parents and children to move through to Mini Rugby each season.

Press contact / 1st Match Reporter

A volunteer is sought to liaise with local newspapers regarding match previews and to write match reports on 1st XV matches.

The commitment is estimated at:

  • · Previews – half to one hour per week (acting as a link between the coaching team and the press)
  • · Match reports:

  • o Saturdays - Travel to and from home or away games and taking notes
  • o Sundays – Writing report (approx. 700 words) and emailing to the Press before mid-day

1st XV Kit Handler

A volunteer is sought to work with the 1st XV on match days. The purpose of the role is to ensure that kit is in the right place at the right time and also safely retrieved afterwards.

The kit involves is primarily:

  • Balls, cones, pads etc. for warm-up
  • Match shirts
  • Match balls (home games)

These duties being performed allows the Coaches and Players to concentrate on preparing for the match.

The commitment is estimated as arriving at the home or away ground two hours before kick-off and leaving half an hour after the final whistle.

1st Match Video Recorder

A volunteer is sought to take video footage of 1st XV matches, using equipment provided by the cub.

The commitment is estimated as the match duration plus one hour editing and downloading the footage to a website facility which players and coaches will have password access to.
