Burtonwood Bridge 22 - Bank Quay Bulls A 28

Bridge Bravehearts Battle Bulls!

This was Remembrance Weekend; both sides lined up face to face and observed a minute's silence before the whistle blew, a roar went up and battle commenced. It was always going to be a war of attrition against the Bulls. As predicted we were short on numbers; some of our lads are out with genuine injuries, others evidently just weren't up for it and chose not to show. However let's concentrate on those who not only stepped up to the mark but showed so much guts and determination they very nearly pulled off a great win. In the end it was exhaustion that got the better of us, if we'd had a full quota of subs we just might have took this game. It was 22 - 22 with about five minutes to go - we were that close!
Ryan Swift scored two tries, Jake Almond and Adam Whalin one each, Jos Blackburn-Woods kicked three out of four, one of which was a real cracker!
This really was a great team effort, every Bridge player can hold his head high. I don't think we've ever had so many nominees for Man of the Match, but in the end it was 'narrowed down' to Dave Garner, Shaun Price and Jos in joint 3rd place, Richard St Pierre, Ryan Swift and Rocky in joint 2nd just behind Adam Whalin in 1st - well done Adam, well done lads!
We are away to Wigan Riversiders on Saturday. C'mon the Bridge!
