Bury Broncos RLFC

The club’s annual general meeting will take place on Friday, February 3rd at 7.15pm at Stand Cricket Club, Higher Lane, Whitefield, M45 7WF.

Invited are all players of the open age side and all parents of children who have attended junior training sessions, as well as anyone else interested in the development of rugby league in the Bury area.

In previous years, the club has operated a single open aged team and consequently the agenda and requirements of the AGM have been quite limited. When we last met formally in the spring of 2012 the open age players voted for the club to become a summer only side and the committee has been working on this basis ever since. As a club though we have expanded to run junior sessions and in 2012 we have formally asked to enter two junior sides in the League starting in March. This is in addition to operating a ‘holding group’ for younger players so that they can begin to develop their skills ready to play in future years.

As a result of this expansion there is a need to formally modify both the club constitution and expand the committee. All committee posts will be up for election and any individual can propose themselves for a position in advance or on the night – we have done this to allow any new interested people to put their name forward.

We’d like to encourage anyone with an interest to come forward particularly any parents whose children have recently started training with the club. The positions we would like to see filled are outlined in the letter that has been sent out to all members and which can be downloaded at the link here (LINK).

A lot of open age players have been asking to buy the open age kit we have played in over recent years.

All shirts will be sold on the night of the AGM – you need to be there to buy one!

We’ll also look to display copies of the match reports and pictures that we have and that relate to the old Bury ARLFC and Prestwich ARLFC teams from the 1980s – well worth a look!
