“It’s great that people are taking note of the fantastic strides being made off the field, and hopefully this bodes well for the future of the club to be built on these solid foundations. The next couple of years will be big ones for the Broncos on and of”
Ryan Lewis, Club Chair
Members of the Rugby League community gathered before the Grand Final at Old Trafford to celebrate the achievements of many of the volunteers in the sport with our very own chairman scooping the top individual award. Despite the award recognising Ryan’s individual efforts, this award also reflects the hard work put in by all the volunteers who help the club run, thrive and grow.
The judges praised Ryan’s key role in the development of the club since its early days, and how his role has continued to grow and develop at great pace to match that of the club itself. This is the second year in a row Bury Broncos have been recognised at these national awards, after Coach Dave Kelly won Coach of the Year last year with the club also scooping its second Steve Prescott Award for Community Development earlier in the season.
The Broncos' first team finished fifth in Division Two of the North West Men's League this season, it's highest ever finish. They missed out on a place in the play-offs after losing their final game after spending the entire campaign in the top four. The club has also seen great progress in its junior section and a fantastic commitment from its second team, all of which gives a great platform to continue to build upon.
