A perfect weekend of rugby league at Philips High! 3 home matches and plenty of action…

Bury has not traditionally been seen as a rugby league town but the Broncos have been turning that around! This weekend we have three home games which is the perfect opportunity for any locals to watch what is the ‘greatest game’.

First, our Open Age team will play Fitton Hill from Oldham on Saturday afternoon, with a 2.30pm kick-off at Philips High. The side are unbeaten at the start of this season having won the local District Cup in March and will be looking to keep the pressure on the teams around them at the top of the league. The Open Age ‘A’ side go to Rochdale Cobras in what is always a tight local derby.

On Sunday there is a feast of rugby league starting at 11.30am as the Broncos U10s play Pilkingtons from St. Helens and it is an 11.45 kick off for the U16s playing Leyland Warriors. Two matches alongside one another means plenty of action to see so well worth coming down after a Sunday lie-in and before a Sunday lunch!

The sides will feed of the support they get so tell as many as you can to come down and watch – your support is definitely welcome!

With the growth in new teams the club are looking for match-day helpers. We have a great team of people but extra hands are always necessary to help set up the pitches and make sure everything runs smoothly on the day. We also hope to run a match-day ‘shop’ selling drinks and few snacks to help bring in some additional income – if keen to help, contact Mike Palin on 07834686374.
