Broncos reach the semis

Following last weeks performance the Broncos found themselves in the finals at Rochdale Mayfield. This was the last 16 of a competition open to all NWML teams.

The Broncos opening fixture was Heysham Atoms of the Premier Division, with the winners staying in the cup and the losers going into the plate. It was a tight encounter but Bury came out on top through an Abdou Radwan try and Joe Cooke goal.

The next round saw them take on First Division side Rochdale Mayfield A. Once again the team beat higher division opposition, this time 10-6, with tries coming from Garry Kabamba and Jono Taylor, with Cooke again adding a goal.

The semi final saw Bury take on Ashton Bears of the Premier Division. Scores from Liam Sixsmith and Ash Warne, with another goal from Cooke were not enough to stop the Broncos going down 15-10 to the Bears. Despite a brave effort the squad had ran out of steam a little, after playing the competition with only a 2 man bench.

Many players were disappointed with the result as they felt on another day they could have go on to win the competition, but all should take great pride in their performances over the two weekends and the fact that they had beaten First and Premier Division opposition.
