Full-back Blake Roberts lead the scoring with four trys and 10 conversions for a personal haul of 36 points. Bury Captain Mark Brocklehurst also ran in a hat-trick whilst winger Ryan Latham grabbed a brace.

The procession was under way after just 6 minutes as Roberts showed his searing pace to find a gap in the Met’s chase and return their kick the length of the field to score with a try of the season contender.

Brocklehurst got his first of the afternoon just two minutes later. Prop Chris Lynch burst through the line to give the home side field position before the ball was worked wide to Brocklehurst who powered through the gap.

His second was a carbon copy just five minutes later, this time the Second-rower getting on the end of Andy Carter’s short ball to scythe through the Bolton line again and touch down.

Latham crossed following some quick hands to race away and effectively kill the game as a contest after 20 minutes. Bolton managed to hit back however, as a set play from a scrum saw them catch the Broncos off guard to reduce the gap to 18 points.

Latham then set up Roberts for his second, the Winger stood in the tackle and found his Full-back with the offload to restore Bury’s four try advantage.

The away side did manage to claw another score back on the stroke of half time. Liam Owen appeared to have the ball stripped in the tackle, however the referee waved play on and Bolton’s pressure payed off as they managed to squeeze over by the sticks to leave the score at 30-12 at the break.

Any thoughts of a Bolton comeback were extinguished five minutes into the second period as Neil Blackburn found the space on the left flank, before putting his foot down to race clear 70 meters from the despairing Mets defence.

Brocklehurst secured his hat-trick six minutes later. Loose forward Neil Shackcloth took the line on before finding his captain who managed to touch the ball down despite the attentions of three defenders.

Scrum-Half Michael Garside was the next to get his name on the scoresheet as he dummied over from close range. Robert added his third of the afternoon three minutes later to take the home side past 50 points with 20 minutes still remaining.

Bolton managed to pull a try back with a scoot from dummy-half, however long range efforts from Shackloth and Latham, ensured the Broncos remained in control.

Fittingly it was left to Roberts to round off a record breaking performance for Bury as he latched on to Chris Ready’s chip over the line in the final minute for his fourth and final try.

The Broncos must keep this form going into their next fixture with old rivals, Wigan Bulldogs this Saturday at Philips High, to continue their run up the table.
