Welcome to Bury St Edmunds Under 13s

Welcome to Bury U13s. We aim to teach and play rugby for all regardless of ability. We train on Wednesday evenings, beginning at 6:30pm until around 8pm. Matches are generally on a Sunday and if training happens on Sundays it will vary according to what matches are taking place but it lasts for about 2 hours often starting at 11.00 or 12.00. Any new players are welcome, either come along to training or if you require any further info contact Jake Waddilove or Matt Stevens.

You will find that the whole group is friendly and welcoming. From the players point of view we look to encourage and bring out the best in all. This includes helping inexperienced players learn the game just as much as improving more experienced players. We do this through training sessions and matches where we aim to grade players so they are playing with team mates and against opponents that will give them the best possible game. As the season progresses we hope to help everyone to get the very best out of rugby.

As parents you may be new to the game or old hands – we think you will always find someone to help explain what’s happening or discuss it! While there is a core of people who coach and manage the group you will find that we will sometimes ask you for some help once you have settled in. This is not conscription to hard labour, just a small share in helping making the group the best for all the players.

We have changed the way we communicate with players about fixtures this season and will be using Teamer. This is a system that uses both emails and texts to communicate with players and allows them to choose which they use, or both. It also allows players to show their availability for specific fixtures or dates. This will make team selection much easier. As the notice about matches can be pretty short we need a system that is easy and quick. We think Teamer achieves this.
