The Ecxstern Counties venue of the Super Series Sevens will be Bury St Edmunds Home Ground - The Haberden, and provide a spectale for all rugby enthusiasts to enjoy, with both Premier sides and a new Womens Event running alongside the days proceedings.
Now in association with UK RUGBY SEVENS MAGAZINE, this year sees 12 teams, 4 venues and 4 unbelievably exciting events! With the English Students, Emerging Wales and Templar 7s joining last year’s Series teams, it promises to be a real nail-biter with all of the 12 core teams capable of clinching the sought after SSS Trophy in 2012.
Since 2009, when the first national sevens series was set up, the Super Sevens Series has gone through a lot of change to evolve into what it is today. From changing hands, and now being run and governed by the core sides themselves, to the tournaments being played with complete amateur status, it is now run as a non-profit making entity with an ethos based entirely on the following: to help promote sevens as a sport; to support grass roots clubs; and most importantly of all, to provide a stage upon which sevens players can showcase and develop their skills.
This year sees a new set of exciting venues:
BURY ST EDMUNDS - SUNDAY 6TH MAY
WORTHING - SATURDAY 26th MAY
CARDIFF - SATURDAY 9TH JUNE
CALDY - SATURDAY 23RD JUNE
It also sees a new line-up:
BRITISH ARMY, WHITE HART MARAUDERS, HFW WAILERS, KAMIKAZE, APACHE, EMERGING WALES, ENGLISH STUDENTS, BURRDA SPORT RONIN, SOCIAL VIBE PUPS, TEMPLAR 7s, SAMURAI BARRACUDA’S, OLORUN SHARKS.
After much demand, a SUPER SEVENS SERIES LADIES EVENT has been added to the tournaments, with 8 women’s teams participating at all 4 venues for the SSS LADIES Trophy. The line-up is still to be announced and will appear on our website shortly.
See you at the sevens!
