Bury Titans RL was formed during January 2009 after meetings between ex players of its former Club Thetford Titans. The team is now predominately made up of Bury St Edmunds RUFC players with the rest of the team made up of Thetford RUFC players and RAF Personnel, and with this coming season we are hoping to welcome many more players from the surrounding community. Many of the players thought that moving the team to Bury St Edmunds would benefit the future of a Rugby League team in this part of Suffolk.
As mentioned before, Bury Titans RL was formed after the folding of Thetford Titans ARLFC after the 2008 RLC Season having had two good seasons in the Eastern Conference. The Players and Committee think that this move for the club will revitalise the Rugby League interest in the community.
Bury Titans RL are an open organisation that welcomes the interest and participation from anyone in our community. We are a volunteer based organisation and no fees raised by, or donated to this Club will go toward anything that doesn't benefit the club as a whole.
We see Bury Titans RL as a very close unit and members are encouraged to openly welcome new members and seek to build the club reputation as a family place.
As a team Bury Titans RL are looking to use the 2011 RL Season to further build on the future of Rugby League in Bury St Edmunds, with a team of players that are committed, enthusiastic and hard working to make this team work. We have a diverse player base, from experienced Rugby League players, to competent Rugby Union players looking to engage in the code of Rugby League and very beginners looking to experience Rugby League first hand, which will all go towards a good starting point for a newly formed club. We hold monthly meetings to keep all club details current and to develop a long term community based club. We will also hold an AGM at the end of every season to review the season as a whole and hold an open forum and discuss how to move the club forward.
