The Baris North Midlands League Cup threw up this home tie for the U19s against a much fancied Worksop Town. Other than Higginbottom (away) and Moloney (away), Buxton were able to name a full strength squad for their first exploits in the Cup.

Both sides were up for this game from the off with Worksop working hard to close down space and Buxton moving the ball around with pace. Worksop's threat was witnessed early on as they looked to move the ball forward quickly to their very pacy striker who found room on a couple of occasions. As the half progressed Buxton imposed their style more frequently and played some neat football around their opponents. Around the mid point of the first half Buxton had a torrent of good chances, notably 3 strikes in as many minutes when firstly Swain fired wide followed by Bradbury and Fletcher. The long ball counter attack adopted by Worksop paid dividends in the 29th minute when the onrushing Stanway felled the Worksop striker in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Stanway turned villain to hero as he guessed correctly and dived well, low to his right to keep out the penalty kick and maintain the score at all square. Buxton were once again moving forward with style and should have taken the lead on 33 minutes when the Worksop keeper spilled allowing Bradbury to fire low and hard across the box only to see Hopkins run in and fire over from inside the 6 yard box. This, and other Buxton chances were a massive let off for The Tigers who themselves, and against the run of play, took the lead before the break with a wonder strike well outside the box giving Stanway no chance. HT: BFCB 0-1 Worksop Town FC.

Worksop entered the fray for the second half in high spirits and again closed down and niggled at Buxton in order to disrupt their style of play. With only 6 minutes of the second period played Worksop doubled their lead with another excellent finish to put them firmly in the driving seat. On 52 minutes Ballington replaced Bradbury on the right. With Worksop being 2 goals to the good, the Buxton heads didn't drop though and they continued to probe looking for a way back into the game but found it more difficult than the first half as their opponents got much tighter. Stanway was called into action again with 65 played, making a high, strong 1 handed save from a long range effort. Twyford made way for Stenson at right back on 66 minutes and Cloake got his first competetive run of the season replacing Swain, but with all the substitutes made for Buxton, Heywood was required to play out the last 10 minutes carrying an injury. As the game came to an end and Buxton were facing exit from the competition the final chance of the game fell to Buxton when Stenson made good ground from the right back spot to find himself free at the back post but his low drilled shot across goal failed to trouble the keeper. FT: BFCB 0-2 Worksop Town FC.
