At 1:30pm on Saturday we were unsure that the game against Accrington Panthers was on or not due to a request for a 2:30pm kick off, It was now up to the parents, telephone calls were made and a Big Thank you to everyone who put the players before themselves so game on.
And what a game it was.
The Rhinos allowed the Panthers to open the scoring with in the first 5 minutes, then the Rhinos decided it was their turn, just after the restart Jem went over to put us on the score board with Kieran bringing it level with the conversion. The arm wrestle started with some great rugby being displayed from both sides when Panthers slipped the net to get their second converted try. The Rhinos dug in showing some great ball skills and foot work to allow Tom Azzi
to go over to score our second converted try thanks to Kieron. Then in the last few minutes of the first half the lads put Kieron in a position to get a drop goal putting the Rhinos 1 point in front going into the break.
The second half started well with some more great foot work and ball skills allowing Harrison to go over to score a converted try, Game on. Both sides had to work hard in defence but with some determination and great team work the Rhinos put Joe and Kieron over to score 2 more converted tries. The Rhinos kept the gates closed in the second half, keeping the Panthers at bay. And with Kieron having his kicking boots on, converting all 5 tries along with his drop goal put the final score at Panthers 12 Rhinos 31.
