Rhinos get mauled!
A dire second half performance saw the Rhinos come off second best at Hindpool Tigers on Saturday
With the kick off delayed due to bad traffic on the M6 you could have forgiven the Rhinos for a slow start but instead they started very well with props Karl Leighton and Lee Massey making an immediate impact and debutants Mark Thomas and Stefan Hannah impressing early on.
Despite the good start it was Hindpool who took the lead with a try after 10 minutes against the run of play.
Cadishead however continued to make yards with hooker Adam Grundy driving the pack forward and the hard work was rewarded when Karl Leighton collected a Jason Reed pass to crash over under the posts.
James Wright playing his first game at scrum half tagged over the conversion to level the scores.
It was the Rhinos who now looked in control as they pressed to extend their lead however the Tigers defence stood firm and after weathering the storm Hindpool broke away to give them a 12-6 lead.
As the Rhinos started to get frustrated the penalty count began to stack up against them and this was made worse on 36 minuts when Richie Hayes was sent to the sin bin.
From the resulting penalty Hindpool scored again to take an 18-6 half time lead.
Immediately from the kick Steve Harrison dropped the ball and whilst the Rhinos stood around watching Hindpool snapped up the ball and charged over to extend their lead to 24-6.
The Rhinos heads went down and for most of the second half they were chasing shadows as Hindpool ran riot racking up a further 38 unanswered points.
