Lions have last laugh

The Rhinos started in breathtaking fashion when full back Jamie Cain weaved his way through the Eccleston defence and raced 60 meters for a fine individual try however Richie Hayes missed an easy conversion in front of the posts.

Despite the bright start Cadishead were on the back foot for most of the first half as they struggled to make yards against the Lions and were camped in their own half.

Eccleston took full advantage and 2 converted tries on 25 and 37 minutes gave them a 12-4 half time lead.

The Rhinos started the second half in determined mood with the forwards making far more yards and it came as no surprise that hard working prop Richie burst his way through for a try.

The home side looked unnerved as the Rhinos attack kept coming and when Danny Royle's pass found Jamie Cain in space, the pacy full back glided over for his second try of the afternoon and the scores we're level. Missed conversions were starting to prove costly as the Rhinos failed to take the lead.

The Cadishead attack though looked full of confidence and a fine ball from hooker Kieran Hope found Lee Mack out wide who scored to give the Rhinos a narrow 18-14 lead.

With 10 minutes to go it was Eccleston who were now chasing the win and silly penalties and errors gave them plenty of ball in the Rhinos half.

With 2 minutes to go the shipped the ball wide from the scrum and their winger dived over in the corner to level the scores. The Lions kicker the cooly stepped up and slotted the ball over from the touch line to steal both points.

Best for Rhinos were man of the match Jamie Cain, closely followed by Jason Reed and Richie Hayes.
