A bright start from the Rhinos saw them dominate much of the early play with George McNulty-Shaw and Ryan Hamer making good yards.

Richie Hayes's and Kieran Hope's kicking game was causing the visitors problems and the Rhinos managed to force several back to back sets however the Rhinos lacked that killer blow and were unable to break through a solid Westhoughton defensive line.

As the game wore on the Lions came more in to the game and a clever kick to the corner saw their winger score out wide.

Westhoughton now stepped up a gear and 5 minutes later some good passing saw them ship the ball out wide to catch the Rhinos defence napping and extend their lead to 10-0.

The Rhinos were struggling to contain the Lions pack and 2 almost identical tries saw their loose forward combine with their strong running second rower who on both occasions burst through with little resistance to give the Lions a 20-0 half time lead.

3 minutes in to the second half Mark Woodfine gave the Rhinos some hope when the Lions full back spilled a high ball from Richie Hayes and he won the race to the ball to touchdown. Jon Butler added the conversion and it was 20-6.

Any hopes of a comeback were dented shortly afterwards with Westhoughton hitting straight back to extend their lead to 26-6.

Despite the hard work of Nathan Vernon and strong running from man of the match Ridick Mayanu the Rhinos looked a beaten side and 2 more tries in the final 15 minutes sealed a comprehensive win for the visitors.
