The Rhinos started brightly with some strong early tackling giving them good field position and they took full advantage as they shipped the ball out wide for Josh Williams to score after 3 minutes. Jon Butler converted to give the Rhinos a 6-0 lead.

The Rhinos then failed to control the ball with errors in their own half handing possession to the Stags who leveled the scores with a try on 7 minutes.

After the good early start the Rhinos looked deflated and Garswood extended their lead on 18 minutes when Jimmy Crozier failed to deal with a high kick and the Stags regained position to score under the posts.

Both teams were conceding too many penalties and Ridick Maynau was sent to the sin bin along with one of the Garswood players after an altercation.

The Stags lifted their game and some sloppy tackling saw them score 2 tries in a 5 minute spell giving them a 22-6 half time lead.

Once again the Rhinos started brightly and a good passing move saw Darren Evans find George-McNulty-Shaw on the wing who powered over in the corner for a try reducing the Stags lead to 22-10.

Garswood were starting to look rattled and once again they found themselves reduced to 12 men with there player having a second spell in the sin bin.

The Rhinos defence was now looking more solid with Marcus Taylor, Nathan Vernon, Ryan Hamer and Joe Kenny all working hard however some overly aggressive defence saw Tom Connor sent to the sin bin.

In attack though Cadishead continued to put pressure on themselves as they coughed up the ball too often.

On 64 minutes they finally managed to string some passes together and the ball found centre Josh Williams who broke through for his second try of the evening. Jon Butler added the conversion and the Rhinos trailed 22-16.

However once again the Rhinos failed to control the ball with Nathan Vernon spilling the ball and then made matters worse arguing with the referees decision who then awarded Garswood a penalty 30 meters out and they elected to kick the penalty goal giving them an 8 point lead.

The Rhinos needed to score and they threw the ball around. With 4 minutes to go they found winger Luke Rimmer in space but he lost the ball before taking a late hit from the Garswood second rower which went unseen by the referee who awarded the scrum to the Stags.

The next set saw some ferocious tackling before the referee blew up early fearing the game was ready to boil over.
