The Rhinos couldn't of asked for a better start as they shipped the ball out in the opening minute to Marcus Taylor who raced 35 meters, sidestepping the fullback for a good try. Jack Wallwork added the conversion and the Rhinos led 6-0.
The Rhinos then pressed the self destruct button failing to keep hold of the ball time and time again as they allowed Runcorn to creep back in to the game.
On 29 minutes the home side finally drew level and a second try on 35 minutes put them 12-6 ahead at the break.
An error from the restart saw the Rhinos once again under pressure in their own half and when they conceded a penalty Runcorn took full advantage slotting the ball over to extend their lead to 14-6.
The Rhinos were doing very little with the ball and their only real good field position came following back to back penalties from Runcorn.
With the line in sight Richie Hayes scooted over bringing the scores to 14-10. Nathan Vernon was wide with the conversion.
With 20 minutes left and 4 points behind you would have expected the Rhinos to now up a gear but it was not the case, they continued to pile the pressure on themselves with error after error and when Ridick Mayanu flew out of the line for the intercept he left a large hole in the defensive line which Runcorn exploited and burst through to score and clinch the win.
