The Rhinos started brightly with Keiron Reed and Richie Hayes making good early yards and they took the lead on 6 minutes when Luke Connor patted down a high kick from Brad White and Matty Sloan collected to race under the sticks for the opening try which Josh Grundy converted.

The visitors started to play their way in to the game and 2 quick tries in a 4 minute spell saw them take a 12-6 lead.

Cadishead were still playing well though and on 21 minutes Josh Williams scored when he was first to dive on a spilled ball as it was kicked forward and Josh Grundy once again converted to level the scores.

It was the Lions though that drew ahead again on 29 minutes with their loose forward claiming his hat-trick.

Once again the Rhinos leveled the scores when Brad White's long pass found Luke Connor on the wing to score in the corner and Josh Grundy added the touchline conversion.

Just before the break Nathan Vernon drove the ball up and found Brad White on the run around who scored under the posts and Josh Grundy's conversion took the half time score to 24-18.

The second half started with the Lions testing the Rhinos defence but some strong tackling from Tom Connor, Marcus Taylor and Kieran Brady kept them out before Brad White intercepted the ball and raced 40 meters to score, Josh Grundy added the extras again and the Rhinos led 30-18.

Cadishead were starting to take control and when Brad White picked up a loose ball and darted over to complete his hat-trick there was daylight between the 2 sides for the first time.

Once again it was the Westhoughton loose forward Ryan Berry who was causing problems and his strong running saw him burst over for another converted try narrowing the Rhinos lead to 34-24.

On 68 minutes captain fantastic Brad White booted a loose ball down field and won the race to touch down, Josh Grundy once again converted.

On 73 minutes the impressive Berry scored again for the Lions with his 5th try of the afternoon taking the score to 40-30 and setting up a nervous finale to the game but the Rhinos defence stood firm to the delight of the large Rhinos crowd.
