Cainscross welcomed Tetbury in Stroud Combination cup competition and their young side acquitted themselves well against their higher placed opposition.
Cainscross season long set piece domination continued with scrum time and lineout working well. The returning Dave Bow was the first to worry the scoreboard as he dab over from a driving lineout. Tetbury hit back with some great lines of running especially from their dangerous 13, scoring to level up the scores.
Cainscross went back to their strength and a 5 metre scrum resulted in evergreen Weaver dabbing over for his second in 2 weeks. Tetbury came and scored two more to go into the 2nd half with the lead.
The game became fractious with whistle dominating proceedings and penalties at the breakdown caused Cross to go two scores down.
The ever influential Maller danced around his opposite number to go in under the posts and set up an intriguing last 10. A rangy kick nearly found touch but the ball ended up in the Tetbury 13's hands, an extraordinary individual effort saw him show Cainscross a clean pair of heels to seal the game.
Cainscross showed that although a difficult season they have some excellent youth to come through with Centre partnership of Dyer and O Connell looking dangerous and Voyce, Nash and Rice showing the tenacity needed in the forwards to take the club on.
