Match Report

After struggling for form this season Caister Development went into their clash with local rivals Great Yarmouth Development full of confidence after cruising to victory against Bohemians last week.

Caister started the game well; retaining possession and not giving the opposition the slightest look in. Despite this possession they were unable to convert it into goals with an open goal missed and the Yarmouth keeper playing out of his skin with some great saves and clearances from crosses.

It wasn’t till the second half that Caister were able to break the deadlock. Reece Evans was played through with a lovely ball but Yarmouth through bodies on the line and he wasn’t able to slot it away, until the ball fell to Erjon Basha just inside the box who slotted it nicely into the side netting.

After the goal there was very little offered from either sides in terms of quality resulting in a yellow card for Ben Head (despite the perpetrator being Ollie Harris).

It wasn’t until Danny White took a shot from range that the keeper could only tip into his own net that Caister began to play their football again.

From then on the win looked inevitable, with a disallowed goal from a corner for Billy Peace further reinforcing the reds dominance.

With the final whistle approaching Caister made it three with a lovely through ball down the wing playing Cards in so he could slot home an easy finish.

In the dying moments two reds collided leaving Danny White with a stinger for the morning and lumping Billy Peace with his second booking of the season.

All in all it was a great display of football at times from the young Caister side who never looked troubled by a Yarmouth team that weren’t at the races.

The young reds are looking to push on from their 3-0 win this week taking this form of two clean sheets on the bounce into their next fixture.
