Winning the toss and electing bat, everyone got a start without anyone progressing on past 25. The regular wickets kept the innings interesting throughout, but a steady run rate saw us reach 182 all out in 35 overs. Ian McCarthy top scored with 25 and Paul (20), Ross (18), Mark (17) and Bob (16) all contributed to a decent total.
Veryan's innings got off to a terrible start with Parse (2-15) and Mark (2-15) producing some fine bowling. Parse took the opening wicket with what could be the ball of the season already, a massive outswinger that started outside leg and hit middle. Only one Veryan player made double figures and he hit 56 out of their final total of 71. The next highest score was just 3.
A solid winning start with 19 points out of 20 and we now look forward to a home game against St Blazey next week
