After a week off from Evening League action the team was back together and ready to slap more points on the board with another win!
The team was joined by two new faces for the season, Jordan Sheers & Lewis Taylor
. Richard Ward
won the toss once again and chose to have a bat. The tried and tested opening partnership of David Wells and Ben Edwards were once again sent out to get us off to a decent steady start.
With the usual style of big hitting from Wellser in action it didn’t take too long for him to reach 39 before chipping one to mid off. As Eddie was going slow and steady at the other end he was joined by Chris Prout who was there for a fun time, not long time as he raced to 35 off about 12 balls which consisted of 3 consecutive sixes before following Wellser by chipping one to the same fielder. This saw Lewis Taylor
come to the crease with just over an over to go and chipped in with a few runs with Ben Edwards finishing on 43 not out which saw us post a decent score of 143 with just the loss of 2 wickets.
In Reply Praze sent out handy batsmen Ian Chatfield to open the batting but was no match the Chris 'Dernbach' Prout as he was caught well by Adam Smith
with the inning just 3balls old. Rusty carried on the good bowling performance with another 2 wickets and finished with figures of 3-16 of his 4 overs. Matt Weston
(1-15) supported Rusty well from the other end, picking up a wicket in his first over and screaming like an excited Justin Bieber fan after. Jordan Sheers (3-10) also bowed 3 tight overs and picked up 3 wickets, thanks to some sharp work from Richard Ward
behind the sticks, with Lewis (1-24) at the other end bowling well but let down by Wellser in the field. Dale Williams
, David Wells, Adam Smith
(1-9) & Ben Edwards (1-5) all chipped in with a few others with Eddie and Adam both having a wicket each which brought the Praze innings to a close as they were bowled out for 108.
A good team performance which needs to be carried over for Crofty next week!
