With neither club in the hunt for silverwear this season Boxing Day's clash for the Roddas Milk Cup will take on even more significance for Camborne and Redruth.
Camborne will be desperate to get their hands on a trophy they've not held since 2013 and Redruth will not want to relinquish their grip on it, especially to lower league opposition.
Both sets of supporters will be looking for a much closer contest than they've witnessed in the past 18 months when the Cherry & Whites injury ravaged squad lost heavily to the Reds.
The last Boxing Day encounter at the REC in 2015 (which was played in front of 1400 supporters) was a much more keenly contested match with Redruth extremely fortunate to take the win that day 15 - 22.
The Cherry & Whites have been unfortunate on the injury front so far this season with a number of key players unable to feature. Indeed there were several senior players missing from the team which convincingly defeated Brixham at the weekend, which makes the result even more pleasing.
Head Coaches Damian Cook and Rhodri Mcatee are both traditionalist and as such know how much the game means to the supporters, so will be looking to field their strongest available lineup on Tuesday. Camborne still have some injury/availability issues, but will be hoping to see more players return to the squad in time to face the Reds.
With County selectors at the match the Cherry & Whites players will be hoping to impress as they take on higher league opponents.
The match is likely to throw up some mouthwatering individual battles all over the park with the likes of young Hooker Tommy Lee-Southworth looking to prove he's more than capeable of taking on his Reds counterpart Richard Brown. Also in the front row former County Prop Jon Drew (who's still only 25) will be hoping to show the selectors what they are missing as will former England u20's prop Malcolm Hearn , who's in superb form at present.
In the back row no.8 Kieran Westlake (who's just returned from a loan move to the Cornish Pirates) will be looking to force his way into the County Championship squad.
Of the Cherry & Whites back line, Harvey Bell has made a superb impact since joining the club and his versatility should see him given an opportunity to pull on the black and gold shirt this season. Scrum Half Taron Peacock is another in excellent form and his return to the team last Saturday was a very welcome one indeed.
Team News;
There will be Thursday fitness tests on Ben Tyler-Guy (wing/full back), centre Declan Matthews (who were both included in the County Development squad last month) and centre Adam Higgins all of whom missed the Brixham win. Full back Murray Westren is still recovering from injury and is unlikely to feature as is Jake Champion who took a knock on Saturday. Flanker Jordan Rose is unavailable but there could be recalls for Ashley Riches, Phil Hinchley and David Roberts, none of whom featured against the Fisherman.
The Squad should be announced on Friday morning.
