Camborne travel to Ivybridge for a 'Top of the Table' clash where the result is much more important than the performance.
This Saturday the Cherry & Whites visit early season pace setters in National 3 South Ivybridge with coaches Ian Morgan and Phil Angove looking for just one thing, a victory!
Usually we tend to be a little greedy at Town wanting not only to win but also to play an entertaining, high tempo brand of rugby, in short put in a good performance and win with style. This weekend in Devon our coaches and supporters would be more than happy with a scrappy 3 - 0 victory as taking the points off our rivals is the name of the game.
The home side has assembled a strong squad including former Launceston & Cornwall duo Lewis Paterson (centre) and James Tripcony (lock forward) so we can expect some cracking battle all over the park. Reading the report on Saturday's 'clash' at Launceston which at one stage saw three of the visitors and two Lanson lads in the Sin bin (at the same time!) we can expect a tough encounter this week.
Training for the last few weeks has been extremely intense with some bone shaking hits going in as the squad puts 100% effort into their preparations for the testing fixtures they face in National 3. The players are extremely confident, have a lot of belief in their ability and are more than happy to put their bodies on the line for their teammates, losing isn't an option for this group of determined Cherry & Whites.
The Team News; scrum half Taron Peacock will be unavailable for the match. He joins Damian Cook (suspended) Ben Drew, Joe Parma, Noah Sixton, Tom Notman & Neil Stanleick (all injured) on the sidelines. For most teams being without this number of quality, experienced players going into a game like this would be a huge blow to say the least.
Fortunately Camborne have a large, talented squad so have made the following changes; David Mankee moves to no.9 with Rhys Brownfield switching from full back to fly half. Murray Westren will revert to his preferred full back role and Josh Semmens comes off the bench to play on the wing.
Good news for Town is that captain Richie Kevern has returned from injury and will start as a replacement alongside former England u20's prop forward Malcolm Hearn and with Brad Howe joining them this is a pretty formidable bench for the Cherry & Whites.
With around 80 supporters making the 150 mile round trip, the team won't be lacking for support in the Devon v Cornwall clash!
