This weekend the Cherry & Whites make the 532 mile round trip to Bracknell for a South West Premier League clash in which they will be looking bounce back from two heavy defeats. The team coach will be driving up on Friday evening and the squad will stay in Swindon to ensure they arrive refreshed for the Saturday afternoon kick off.
The hosts themselves are not enjoying the best of starts to their campaign sitting next to bottom of the table, and this despite pushing run away league leaders Bournemouth close a few weeks ago.
Bracknell were formed in 1955 some 77 years later than Camborne but despite this have reached as high up the League structure as National 1. They enjoyed a purple patch in the mid 90's getting promoted in 4 consecutive seasons from 1995 culminating with them reaching National 1 in 1999. They yo-yo'd between league 1 and 2 for the next 4 seasons before hitting a baron spell where they dropped down the leagues.
Camborne know it's going to be no easy task for them to pick up their first victory at Lily Park on Saturday on what's their 3rd visit to the ground. There is some good news however for the team who are likely to see a number of key players return to their lineup after what's been a devastating few weeks for injury/availability in the senior squad.
Having the weekend off certainly helped with coaches able to rest players both on Saturday and at last Tuesday's training session which they cancelled, this has enabled a few to get over niggles and knocks in time for this very important match.
No doubt this weeks training sessions will be full on as the squad work hard to prepare for what's sure to be a tough test at a club desperate to move out of the relegation places. With around 25 fit players to choose from selectors will (for once) have the luxury of picking a team rather than just struggling to get 18 players on the bus! This will also allow some who've been playing through the pain barrier to have a rest.
Despite the last two results the squad are in a good frame of mind and determined to set the record straight and show everyone the quality they have. Returning players will certainly give the team a huge lift and as far as they're concerned the league starts this Saturday in Berkshire where nothing less than a win will suffice!
The squad will be named after training on Thursday and will be on the website by Friday lunchtime.
