Cambridge make the 160 mile round trip to Southend this weekend hoping to kick start the season after the disappointing postponement of last weeks Milton Keynes game.
The match sees no less than seven débutantes in the travelling eighteen in an all but completely changed side from the humiliating cup loss to Eastern Rhinos. Full back Justin Hall, winger Matty Shepherd, props Dave Dexter and Scott Jackson, and the influential Josh Schmidt all return to the side this week which are looking to get their first win of the year.
Captain, chairman, CEO and revitalised prop forward Scott Jackson had this to say "We know what Southend are about. They are a very good side, especially at home as we found out during our drubbing in last years play off but we've an exciting line up this week with some real strike and we think we can certainly put up as good as we get. It will be our first encounter with them this year and we're looking to show them what the Lions are made of in 2016".
His thoughts were echoed by goal kicking sharpshooter Justin Hall. "We're still missing a few key players such as Noah Sloot and Andy Stamartis but I think we can get the job done."
The game kicks off at 14:00 at Westcliff RFC.
