Cambridge Nomads provides a fun and sociable place for the kids of Cambridge to learn to play hockey. We run training and matches for all kids (girls and boys mixed) aged from 8 to 14. We have no waiting list and welcome players of all abilities and experience in hockey.
We train each week, from September to April, with sessions that are a mix of fun games and skill based activities. We run a number of mixed fixtures during the season against other clubs and currently have a boys U14 team in the regional England Hockey league.
Each year we nominate players into the England Hockey Single System so you have a chance to represent Cambridgeshire, the East or even England.
We also have a planned programme for how kids make the move into senior hockey when they are 13-14 years old.
Tim Fieth – Junior Coordinator
Rick Mort – Fixtures
David Watts – Schools Liaison
Rob Furlong – Child Safeguarding
This team, along with a number of other club members, are qualified coaches and run the coaching sessions.
Our club welfare officer, Rachel Gooch, is also available in case of any queries.
An Annual Membership fee to play at Nomads Juniors is £36 (with a £3 discount if you pay before 31st October), this includes all weekly training sessions from September to April. We can agree a discount if you only join part way through the season.
You are welcome to join an initial training session for free to check out the club before deciding whether to join.
Club kit is available to purchase including hoodies, shorts, socks, and playing tops. We would encourage you to get some club kit so your child feels part of the whole club.
Mixed Junior Training
Join us for mixed junior training on Wednesdays during the season from 7-8pm at Coldhams Common. These sessions start on 7th September 2016 and run through until April 2016 with the odd break during school holidays and over Christmas.
Contact email@example.com for further details.
Coming to training or matches it is essential that your child has shin-pads and a gum shield. Without these, your child will not be able to participate.
England Hockey Accreditation
Cambridge Nomads HC first achieved it's Clubs First accreditation in 2010 (currently under renewal). Clubs First is England Hockey's nationally recognised club accreditation scheme, and aims to ensure that all club's that have earned the award will be guaranteed to conform to minimum standards for safeguarding and nurturing children within the sport. All of our club coaches are DRB (Disclosure Barring Service - formerly CRB) checked.
