5 months ago By CUPFC Info

1st and Reserves both win and lose in the sixth month of the season as 5 matches were played

January was a mixed month for CUP FC, as 5 matches took place, with the 1sts winning 2 of their 3 Kershaw Premier matches and Reserves having closely fought battles in the league.

The 1st team won on the opening weekend of 2018, a 3 – 2 victory on the road to Cherry Hinton on Saturday 6th. Saturday 27th was the other maximum, a 2 – 0 triumph at home to Gamlingay United. There was a free week on Saturday 13th, while Saturday 20th was tough day with a 7 – 2 home loss vs Comberton United. 5th in the league is the result of a decent month.

The Reserves played on the first two Saturdays of the new year, which was then followed by two free weekends on 20th and 27th. Saturday 6th saw a 5 – 4 defeat hosting Bluntisham Rangers, before a 2 – 1 win at the Cass vs Wisbech St Mary Reserves on Saturday 13th. The team sit 10th in the Senior B table, with games in hand on a couple of teams above.

Notable contributions:
1. The 1sts scored 7 and conceded 9 in January – three for Jose, a brace for Phil, and one a piece for Dan and Jordy
2. The Reserves both scored and conceded 6 in the month – Joel (brace), Kenny, Lee, Ryan T and Scott
3. Neither team claimed a clean sheet
4. There were 4 yellow cards for the 1st team, with only 1 booking for the Reserves
5. 26 players have now played for the 1sts this season, with 32 representing the Reserves
