1sts lose 2 - 0; Reserves defeated 2 - 1

Saturday saw the first matches of 2018-19 hosted at the Cass, as the 1st and Reserves teams played pre-season friendlies there.

The 1sts kicked off at 1pm vs Lakenheath, who have moved up to the Thurlow Nunn as part of the re-structure and strengthened accordingly. CUP battled well in this very competitive encounter, only conceding from a dubious penalty and an OG resulting from a push by an opposing attacker in the area. The final result was 0 - 2.

The Reserves followed in their match vs league rivals Sawston Rovers, kicking off at 3pm - missing 8 players and without a recognised goalkeeper. The visitors took a 1 - 0 lead into half-time which extended to 2 - 0 midway in the 2nd half, although CUP created some decent chances, before persistence by Sam saw him finish well to reduce the arrears in the final minutes. Sawston held on to win 2 - 1.

Both teams are in mid-week action once again this week, as the 1sts play last season's Kershaw Premier champions West Wratting in the semi-finals of the Terry Wilson Trophy on Tuesday with the Reserves then hosting 1A's Duxford United on Wednesday evening. Each match will kick off at 6.30pm.
