It was a disappointing evening last night for CUP FC as the Reserves lost 2 - 1 to Godmanchester Rovers Reserves in the Senior B.
Played on a lovely Cass pitch, benefiting from the recent warm weather and a bit of rain, this was an important match for both teams who are at the wrong end of the table. It was a relatively even first half, although CUP had the better chances but were also sloppy, that ended goalless.
We stepped it up a little in the second half and a took the lead through Ryan T who finished after a great driven run. The visitors equalised less than 10 minutes later in very similar fashion, before going ahead when a midfielder broke through, amid confusion of a potential offside, and slotted the ball past Mark.
The Reserves now have 4 matches remaining of the season and will need improvement on their form to prevent finishing within the bottom four and have the risk of relegation - which does seem unlikely, but could be possible. They next play on Saturday, hosting Sawston Rovers.
