Wins and defeats for CUP FC in February

2 months ago By CUPFC Info

1sts and Reserves both win and lose across their matches in the seventh month of 2017-18

February was another mixed month for CUP FC across their 5 matches, with the 1sts winning 1 and losing 1 in the Kershaw Premier while the Reserves picked up 3 points from their 3 matches.

The 1st team suffered a narrow 2 – 1 defeat at league title favourites West Wratting on Saturday 3rd, before picking a solid 4 – 1 win at Chatteris Town on Saturday 17th. Their match scheduled for Saturday 10th was postponed due to the weather, before having no match planned for Saturday 24th. 6th place in the Kershaw Premier the outcome of a mixed month.

The Reserves had 3 fixtures in the month, all at home, and close affairs with only 1 ending in favour to CUP. This was on Saturday 24th when they defeated March Town United Reserves 2 – 0, after losing 4 – 2 when hosting promotion challengers Huntingdon United on Saturday 3rd and 4 – 3 vs Steeple Bumpstead on Saturday 17th. Saturday 10th also saw postponement. The Reserves stay 10th in the Senior B table.

Notable contributions:
1. The 1sts scored 5 and conceded 3 in the month – a brace a piece for Dan and Sam with Bradley notching the other
2. The Reserves scored 7 and conceded 8 – Ollie grabbed 4 to extend his total to 14 for the season, while Ryan T got 3 and 1 for Ben J
3. There was a single clean sheet for the Reserves
4. There were 2 yellow cards for the 1st team (Nacer and Will) and only 1 for the Reserves (Ryan T)
5. 3 debuts were made in February, with 27 players having now played for the 1sts and 34 representing the Reserves this season
