Birmingham's Wheelchair Basketball Team is welcomed to "The Shrine"

This Saturday, the Club is extremely pleased to be hosting the Annual Awards for Birmingham BlackCats Wheelchair Basketball Club.

Birmingham Black Cats are the only wheelchair basketball club in Birmingham, they are now through working with British Wheelchair basketball association after being promoted as being the biggest wheelchair basketball club in the West Midlands.

Next season sees them taking on the major clubs from around the country competing for a place in the Premiership League and Europe.
This will enable them to develop our players and attract higher level players as the club grows attracting GB players and players from eventually around the world.

Andy Craddock, Head Coach and Father of Mens Senior Player, Dan Craddock said "To sustain this development and engage this professionalism the club will need sponsorship and media coverage, not only to promote the club but also the sport in general. Wheelchair basketball has been around since the end of the second world war, when it was used for rehabilitation for injured soldiers returning home.
Since then it has grown and really came to the forefront during the 2012 London Paralympics"

Andy continued "I hope by promoting the sport and making more people aware of this great sport , we will as a club continue to grow, but also enable to develop more players and give more opportunities for people with a disability or not that wheelchair basketball is a sport for everyone"

He concluded "If Camp Hill RFC would like to play wheelchair basketball, we do run tournaments for all , where people can come and experience wheelchair basketball for a donation.
We would run the tournament, with refs and supply chairs"

If you fancy giving it a go, then please let us know, and we'll happily put you in contact with Andy.
