North Midlands cup winner John Brown coaches University of Charlotte to victory in the American universities 7s cup final.

Ex Camp Hill skipper, North Mids cup winner and notorious 7s enthusiast, John Brown has coached his side, UNC Charlotte to their first ever national 7s victory in a shock final victory against favourites and last years winners UW Whitewater.

Browny (pictured top right in group photo and also pictured here in his favoured position between two grunts) said “Playing hooker for Camps in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s and in free flowing games against the likes of Old Ys, Bedworth and Hereford was the perfect backdrop for college 7s rugby.

I’m immensely proud of this achievement, my only regret was not being able to get Leysh to come out of retirement to play 10 for me. He was willing but failed the entrance exam. And the physical!”

Browny promises to pay us a visit from over the pond at some point during the ckub’s 125th Anniversary season in 18/19. He’s requested a special game of 7s against the young lads playing with other 7s specialists Green, MacWhirter, Burke, Law, Downs and Corr
