"A grand day out" a quick summary from the Mini & Junior Chairman

Just a quickie to thank everyone that joined in yesterday. It felt like a military operation at times so suffice you can guess that I didn't have much to do with the organisation; all the credit for that goes to Jon McDermott, Deb Coles and Eugene McDaid and the Staff at Wasps, notably Verity who's become a firm friend of Camp Hill.

Among many highlights of the day I thought it was particularly nice when Wasps Chief Exec, David Armstrong (the smart one in the Suit!) , or Dave as we now call him, came down from his pedestal in the gods and said what a fantastic achievement it was and how much he and WASPS appreciated it. Obviously, we then thrust a t-shirt at him, spilt Guinness down his club tie and sent him on his way, but it was a nice heartfelt sentiment. I think he understands better than most because he also wears another hat as Chairman of a grassroots rugby club in a similar place to Camp Hill in the pecking order.

All in all, we took around 500 people that just over two years ago, would've made up about 10% of the average attendance at Wasps - so how times change for everyone involved. We'd never have thought that we could muster these sorts of numbers' for a club day out and I firmly believe that it's a testament to everyone involved, that's kids, parents, obscure relatives and friends, coaches, team managers, 'Alacado' et al that we, a quirky little club, down a quirky little drive can get behind such an event. WASPS have been organising these for a while now so we can say quite categorically that we knock spots off everyone else because in simple terms no one comes close to what we do - and that's proper, genuinely official.

I hope the kids had a great time, I know they impressed a good number of the WASPS staff with their prowess in the Fan Zone, I hope someone had the sense to buy a programme that they could donate back to the club, because the man charged with that forgot - oops!

I don't want to sound mercenary, but we do get a kick back on the purchase of WASPS tickets so we've got Ashley Johnson (yes, the one with big hair) coming to the club to present us with a cheque, take questions, have selfies done, make a couple of presentations and hopefully batter Count (date TBA) but, in the meantime if you want tickets for Wasps fixtures please use the link on the top left hand side of Camp Hill website http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/camphillrfc or, just use the direct link below to keep the much-needed coffers rolling in.

Well done one and all, happy birthday Kelly, great day out, roll on next year.

Thank's all.

Nige (aka Shambles, which I completely object to since I know the people who organised this event!)
