1. Mini Tag Rugby Introduction

Canton RFC is committed in offering the opportunity to children aged 10 years and under (with the permission of parents/guardian) to learn the basic rugby skills, make new friends, develop confidence and team working abilities.

Since the Summer 2015, a programme of Sunday morning sessions have been scheduled, which are be advertised on this website or via Facebook. This programme supports the WRU Schools Hub Officer initiative (see photo).

A proposed joining membership fee of £30 for each child would include a drill top, club socks and shorts and a £4 monthly standing order per child paid into the Mini Rugby Account. Surplus monies in the account will be used to run events throughout the year (e.g. Christmas Party, Easter egg hunt, Halloween party etc). Hopefully this will commence in August with more details to follow during the summer sessions. Any child trialling the game, can participate in up to 3 sessions max at £2 a session without membership to allow them time to decide if they wish to commit to joining.

Canton U7s - U8s - U9s

Canton RFC commenced fixtures for the newly established U9s for 2016-17 and league fixtures for existing U7s & U8s teams continue since September 2015. If your child is interested, bring them along for a taster session. If your child wants to join, WRU registration is required. If a child is 6+ years of age, please bring x2 passport photos (of your child) to the next session. These are for the registration cards that are to be sent to the WRU and allow your child to play in fixtures. Peter Hughes, Paul Hurrell and Josh Crocker are coaches of the 7, 8 & 9 years age groups.

Canton Cubs - U6s

If your child is not yet 6 you don't have to do anything, just continue to bring your child along, show your support and enjoy the sessions. Phil Morgan, Luke Regan and Robert Walsh are coaches of the 4,5 & 6 years age groups. The Canton Rugby Cubs for U6s has been formed and for more info please click following link:

The club is also planning to organise taster sessions for older children with a view to establishing an under 10s. If you know of any children who may be interested please get in contact.

If you feel you may want to help with the coaching or just generally volunteer, please don't hesitate to get involved. The WRU fund first aid courses (through St. Johns) and Tag leader coaching courses are in the process of being organised at the club subject to availability. If you are interested please reply below.
