Saturday 10th March - Macrobert's Ladies Tournament.

by Sarah McMichael

Capital Lacrosse Club had a busy weekend on the 10th and 11th of March, taking part in the Macrobert tournament.

The Saturday was the ladies tournament so the Capital Girls took to the field with the men of the club being our cheerleaders on the sidelines! We had U19b and St Andrews University in our pool. Our first match against the U19b team was a great chance to test our fitness. The young players kept running and sadly defeated us with their international standard plays. Capital, however did play amazingly all day, especially against the pool winners and Competition runner up, St Andrew University. With some great work in midfield and attack, the players worked tirelessly trying to get shots past the St Andrew's Goalie. The defence used their new WASP skills to hold strong and guard our goal. Claire Goncet showed lovely skill with her awesome goal saving interception, rewarding her the player of the day for Capital! In our final match playing the U19b team again, we played brilliantly well and showed a vast improvement on our earlier score. Great day ladies, and a lot for us to be proud of!

Thank you to Ollie Cruickshank and Stephanie Melrose for the manning the table and to Sarah McMichael and Louise Gilmour-Wills for reffing.
