Capital travel to sunny Dundee to take on the University.
Capital travelled up to Dundee on Sunday the 4th of March to take on Dundee University. With team spirits high on both sides the match started well. The first quarter was pretty close with some good plays made by both Capital and Dundee. Capital put the first score in from David Harvey. Dundee then fought hard and Elizabeth Headon got two goals in. Capital's Sarah McMichael then evened the result to make it 2 each. After some great play from each ends Dundee defender Claire Hill got a goal in followed by Capital's David Harvey again leaving the half time score at 3 all.
The second half was a different game with Capital really boosting up their play in both attack and defence. The defence worked tirelessly and new goalie Iain Caddell managed some great saves and interceptions allowing Capital to move the play back up to the attack. Thanks to some of Fiona Fung's amazing positioning and play, David Harvey followed with another goal, followed by Olive Fulton getting two goals in. Louise Gilmour-Wills followed suit and finally more great goals from David Harvey, Fiona Stewart and Nicola Henderson. The match ended after some great play and it was a great atmosphere both on and off the pitch. Capital took the win of 10-3 but with Dundee fielding some new players, both teams went go home happy.
Slightly different man of the match this week with it going to the Core defence (Amie Routledge, Claire Goncet, Fiona Stewart and Nicola Henderson). They worked great as a team keeping a clean sheet in the 2nd half. Well done to Iain Caddell for his amazing first time in goal! Thanks to everyone who offered to be in goal and ref (especially Caroline McLuckie who did both!)
After this awesome match, we are now sitting 2nd in the league! We are also the only team in the top 5 who has not taken a walkover. This means we are deservedly in this position after managing to get all our matches so far played.
Well done to everyone and bring on the Macrobert.
