The Westgate supported the growth of the club as a community.

The pub has arranged hospitality after home matches, club functions, and is a place where club members are continually welcomed whether on a night out, a pub lunch, or meetings.

The Westgate has also generously supplied a prominent area within the pub to be used as a club notice board. This supplies knowledge of the club and its activities to pub regulars and a substantial passing trade with sporting interest as the pub is ideally situated close to the three major sports stadiums of Cardiff; the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff City Stadium and the Swalec Stadium of Glamorgan Cricket Club.
