Cardiff Double Blues ARFC

It is once again time for the Cardiff Double Blues Australian Rules Football Club 2011 Awards night and Christmas Party!!!

It will this year be held from 7:00 on Friday 25th November 2011 at the Westgate Hotel, Cardiff.

Family and friends are all invited for what promises to be a great night.

Food will also be available thanks to Debbie and the staff at the Westgate.

The Awards this year are:


1) Club Representative of the Year:
The Player who has contributed the most to representing the club at International or League Representative level and has generally brought the club recognition within the aussie rules community.
Decision based on International Representation statistics & other representative activities.

2) Clubman of the year:
The person who has made an outstanding contribution to the club this year; including attendance (at games & training), organising changing rooms, kits, equipment, after game food, publicity etc.
Player’s choice [Winner = the person nominated the most times]

3) Best Rookie (first year player):
The player in his first season who has contributed the most on the pitch and made considerable improvement in skill.
Player’s choice from the following:
- Brian Sparkes
- Mike O’Neill
- Jaymz Collins

4) Most improved:
The Player who this season has improved in skill the most.
Player’s choice [Winner = the person nominated the most times]

5) Best and Fairest:
The top player of the year according to the Coach and Captain
Decided by the Coach and Captain.

6) Leading Goal Scorer:
Awarded to the player who has scored the most points for the club this season.
Decision based on statistics

7) Player’s player:
Awarded to the player that has stood out from the rest in dedication, guts, ability and all-round on pitch contribution.
Player’s choice [Winner = the person nominated the most times]

8) The Westgate Award:
Given to the player who has put the most money over the bar and / or alcohol into himself.
Landlady's choice

9) The Handbags Award:
Given to the player who has spit the dummy, thrown the toys out of the pram, and pushed and shoved with the most style!

10) Shank of the Season:
For the player who had the perfect opportunity to slot the goal, but somehow didn’t. The player who missed a shepherd spectacularly. The player who got nailed in a tackle.
