Drainage & pitch repairs continue.............

As you know work has been taking place on the drainage and fields. This was vital work after the damage caused by the 2015 flood event.

Contractors have been on site since the bank holiday weekend at the end of May.
A new drainage system has been installed on pitches 2 and 3 and some of the uneven areas have been smoothed out.

Pitch 1 has had the necessary annual renovation work to make it ready for the new season.
Hopefully, all will appreciate that we need to nurse the fields back to good health; it follows that, for the time being, training and playing on any of the pitches is not recommended. We need to ensure that our fields are available for play as soon as practicable, at the same time bearing in mind the possible risks if we allow use sooner than is recommended.

Pitch 1 will probably be available from the end of July after the weeding, reseeding and feeding have had the opportunity to do their job!
Pitches 2 and 3 will not be ready for quite a while longer. New drains have been installed, with diagonal sand slitting at 1m intervals, and it will take a while for the trenching and slits to resettle.

With pitches 2 and 3 not available for the start of the season it follows that pitch 1 will be used more than would be normally the case.

Signs have been placed asking folk to keep off the fields. Please comply with this request.

ALL THE PITCHES ARE CURRENTLY OUT OF USE AND WILL REMAIN SO UNTIL FURTHER ADVICE IS RECEIVED FROM THE RFU AGRONOMIST WHO IS LIAISING WITH OUR GROUNDSMAN.

Temporary training arrangements have been put in place and coaches have been advised of these arrangements.

The help of all would be appreciated and if anyone finds the pitches being used in the meantime, please remind them or let a member of the committee / staff know.
