Carlton Town conceded twice in the final 17 minutes tonight to lose 2-1 at Goole.

The defeat, Carlton's first at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds for six years, came courtesy of strikes by Bradley Grayson on 73 minutes and Andy Gascoigne five minutes later and although Aaron Hooton replied in the first minute of added time, the Millers were unable to force an equaliser.

In a tight first half, Goole's James Cottingham had the one clear chance but he fired wide of a gaping goal with Carlton goalkeeper Curtis McDonald stranded.

After the break, Carlton looked to have weathered a period of Vikings pressure following the introduction of Grayson and Billy Law but a quick break saw the home side outnumber the visitors and Benny Igiehon teed up Grayson to fire home from 12 yards.

Gascoigne doubled the lead when his fierce shot slipped through McDonald's grasp, but Carlton gave the home side a scare when Hooton headed home Ben Flynn's cross.

There was still time for Peter Fotko to make a superb save from another Hooton effort as Goole saw out five added minutes to secure the points.

Carlton remain in 14th place with 17 points from 16 games. They entertain Stourbridge in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

A full report from tonight's game, along with Lou Lardi's photographs, will be on site tomorrow.
