MAGPIES TOO STRONG FOR MILLERS

Notts County eased to a 4-0 win against Carlton Town in front of a good crowd at Stoke Lane this evening.

The game started evenly and Femi Orenuga threatened early on for the Millers before his cross was turned away for a corner.

But County upped the tempo and only a fine save from Liam Mitchell prevented Tyrelle Waite from giving a youthful Magpies side the lead.

The opening goal came on 40 minutes when Ronan Murray got the better of Lee Torr and his cut back was converted by Nicky Wroe.

Three minutes later Elliot Whitehouse doubled the visitors' lead, taking advantage of a poor clearance by Mitchell to fire home.

Seven minutes after the restart Whitehouse found himself in acres of space with time to pick his shot and make it 3-0. And Wroe completed his brace on 62 minutes with a shot that took an uneven bounce to deceive Mitchell.

Orenuga showed one flash of brilliance towards the end to draw a save from Harry Andrew, but the difference in the levels the sides operate at was apparent.

The Nottingham Post match report can be found here.

Carlton will look to bounce back tomorrow when they entertain County's fellow League 1 outfit Scunthorpe Utd.
